UC3M ranks 20th in the “QS Top 50 Under 50"

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) now holds the 20th spot, the highest in its history, in the “QS Top 50 Under 50” ranking. This ranking spotlights the 50 best universities worldwide under 50 years old. In this new edition (2016/2017), UC3M climbed 13 positions in relation to the previous edition and occupies 3rd place among the Spanish universities, behind the Autónoma de Barcelona and the Autónoma de Madrid.
UC3M is one of the five Spanish institutions that appear in this ranking, together with the following universities: Autónoma de Madrid, Autónoma de Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra and Politécnica de Cataluña. Four of these universities form part of the la Alianza 4 Universidades (A4U), made up by UAB, UAM, UC3M and UPF and created in 2008 with the common goal of promoting excellence in teaching and quality research.
For a university to be assessed in the “QS Top 50 Under 50” it must fulfil two requisites: be under 50 years of age (UC3M was founded in 1989) and appear in the QS World University Ranking, which evaluates 3800 centers of higher learning throughout the world.
In the last update of the QS World University Ranking, published in early September, 2016; UC3M obtained its best position since being included in this ranking, climbing 34 spots to 280th, with respect to the previous year.
First designed in 2004 by the British Consulting Company, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this ranking is based on six indicators and analyzes performance in four areas: teaching, employability, research, and internationalization.
