    What is IFP?

    The main objective of the International Foundation Program (IFP) is to provide international students with the necessary preparation to undertake a degree at the University Carlos III of Madrid. You will acquire an adequate basis of both Spanish language and culture, as well as specific knowledge of the studies you will carry out in the future. The Program comprises 48 ECTS (European Transfer Credit System) and is divided into two knowledge areas: Social Sciences and Humanities/Engineering.

    International Foundation Program in Social Sciences and Humanities

    Campus | Getafe

    Study Programme | 48 credits divided as follows:

    • 24 credits in Foundation courses
    • 12 credits in Bachelor's Degree courses
    • 12 credits in language courses (English or Spanish)

    How to apply

    Deadline for the academic year 2019/2020: From November 30th to June 4th.

    Acceptance requirements:

    • You must have completed studies equivalent to high school studies in Spain. Students must also fulfill any additional requirements for university admission in their home country (if any).
    • Hold a B1 or intermediate proficiency in Spanish or English.

    2nd Semester

    The Foundation Courses and Bachelor's Degree courses classes begin the 28th of January and the Languages courses begin in the firts week of begin the week of February 11th.

     

    Foundation courses (18 credits). From December 5th to 12th.

    During 2nd semester you should enrol 18 credits among Foundation and languages course courses. 

    • ACCESS TO ENROL COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    Bachelor's Degree courses (6 credits)

    In order to complete the 2nd semester registration, you will enrol a first year Bachelor Degree course.

    1. View the courses. From December 18th to January 21st.

    Check the schedules, rooms, and available places of the courses you want toi take.

    We recommend use this period to plan the schedules and avoid overlaping between courses. Remember that you can check the Schedule of the foundation courses in your Aula Global.

    ACCESS FOR CHECKING THE COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    2. Select courses. From January 22nd from 9 am to 25th at 2 pm.

    • The sooner you access the application, the more chances you will have to choose the courses that you are interested..
    • You can select any group with vacancies that shows the application at the enrollment time.
    • Check your Schedule to avoid overlaping between courses.

    ACCESS TO ENROL COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    3. Changes period. From February 4th and 5th.

    During this period you can change the Bachelor Degree course chosen. Sign back in to the application and choose courses with vacancies or delete it if you are not interested in.

    IMPORTANT: The changes will not take effect until you finish the process and click the 'Confirm' button.

    After February 5th it won’t be posible to make any change in the registration.

    International Foundation Program Scholarship

    International Foundation Program scholarships 2018/2019

    Carlos III International School promotes two scholarship for International Foundation Program students  with an good academic performance, who may be in difficult financial situations or in special circumstances that could compromise their access to university studies.

    Amount

    Two scholarships of 6.200 euros each shall be allocated. This amount shall be used to cover part of the tuition fees.

    General requirements

    • Not be resident in Spain.

    Academic requirements

    • Have completed high school studies
    • Have been officially accepted in the International Foundation Program
    • Hold a good GAP in high school

    Financial requirements

    • Do not exceed anual incomes state in the article 2.3 of the call for candidature.

    Acceptance in Bachelor's Degree studies

    Requirements

    International Foundation Program students will have the possibility to be accepted in a Bachelor Degree studies after completing the program by fulfilling the following requirements:

    1. Students with Non European Union high school Diploma:  Hold the recognition of the high school studies (in Spanish: Homologación) by the Spanish Ministry of Education or the copy of the application . More information about the recognition of studies in the Spanish Ministry of Education.

    Students with European Union high school Diploma: Instead of recognition of studies, submit the credential for university studies in Spain, given by UNED (in spanish, "credencial") through its service UNED assis. More information about UNED assis.

    2. Hold a B2 level proficiency in English or Spanish deppending on the Bachelor Degree chosen.

    3. Pass at least 36 credits of the International Foundation Program.

    Selection Criterias

    A commission appointed by the President of the University will evaluate the students applications. Applications will be assessed taking into consideration the following aspects:

    1. GPA obtained during the International Foundation Program

    2. GPA obtained in 2 basic Foundation courses for the Bachelor's Degree chosen:

    • For Engineering: Foundations of Algebra, Foundations of Physics, Foundations of Calculus, Foundations of Chemistry, Foundations of Programming.
    • For Economics, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Statistics and Business, International Studies and Management and Technology: Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Statistics, Foundations of Economics, Foundations of Business Administration.
    • For Political Science, Law, Employment and Labour Relations, Sociology, Management of Information and Digital Contents, History and Politics and Tourism: Foundationsof Law, Foundations of Politics, Foundations of Sociology, Foundations of Philosophy, History of Spain, Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Statistics, Foundations of Economics.
    • For Film, TV and Media Studies, Journalism, Humanities and Cultural Studies: History of Spain, Communication, Comunicación, Foundations of Philosophy, Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Economics.
    • 3. Pass all the credits of the program and pass the Bachelor's Degree courses will be an asset.

    • Recognition of the high school studies (in Spanish: Homologación) by the Spanish Ministry of Education or the credential for university studies in Spain, given by UNED. If you don't hold this document, you will have the possibility to submit it later.
