    What is IFP?

    The main objective of the International Foundation Program (IFP) is to provide international students with the necessary preparation to undertake a degree at the University Carlos III of Madrid. You will acquire an adequate basis of both Spanish language and culture, as well as specific knowledge of the studies you will carry out in the future. The Program comprises 48 ECTS (European Transfer Credit System) and is divided into two knowledge areas: Social Sciences and Humanities/Engineering.

    Study Programme | 48 credits divided as follows:

    • 24 credits in Foundation courses
    • 12 credits in Bachelor's Degree courses
    • 12 credits in language courses (English or Spanish)

    How to apply

    Deadline for the academic year 2020/2021: From November 25th 2019 to June 4th 2020​

    Acceptance requirements:

    • You must have completed studies equivalent to high school studies in Spain.
    • Hold a B1 or intermediate proficiency in Spanish or English.

    Required documents:

    IFP Registration: 1st Semester 19/20 (period expired)

    The International Foundation Program is made up of 48 credits during the academic year. Each semester, the student will register 24 credits divided in the following way:

    • 18 credits in Foundation courses and language courses (Spanish or English)
    • 6 credits in Bachelor's Degree courses.

     

    How to register: 1st semester 19/20

    1. Activate your email account

     

    2. Complete the pre-registration form (July 8th to 11th)

     

    3. Select first semester Foundation courses (July 8th to 11th)

    You should register 18 credits among Foundation and languages courses. 

    • ACCESS TO REGISTER COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    4. Select Bachelor's Degree course (September 2nd to 10th)

    In order to complete the 1st semester registration, you should choose a first year Bachelor Degree course.

    View the courses. From July 31st.

    Check the schedules, rooms, and available places of the courses you want to take.

    We recommend use this period to plan the schedules and avoid overlaping between courses. Remember that you can check the Schedule of the foundation courses in your Aula Global.

    ACCESS FOR CHECKING THE COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    Select courses. From September 2nd at 11am to September 10th at 5 pm.

    • The sooner you access the application, the more chances you will have to choose the courses that you are interested..
    • You can select any group with vacancies that shows the application at the enrollment time.
    • Check your Schedule to avoid overlaping between courses.

    ACCESS TO ENROL COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    After September 10th  it won’t be posible to make any change in the registration.

    How to register: 2nd semester 19/20

    1. Select first semester Foundation courses (January 7th to 12th)

    You should register 18 credits among Foundation and languages courses. 

    • ACCESS TO REGISTER COURSES. Type your user number (100XXXXXX) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. AFTER LOG IN, YOU MUST SELECT "GESTIÓN DE PREMATRÍCULA".

     

    2. Select Bachelor's Degree course (January 22nd to February 3rd)

    In order to complete the 2nd semester registration, you should choose a first year Bachelor Degree course.

    • Language courses schedules: The students have to take a level test in order to define the language courses schedules. If you want to take a Language course next semester, add it to your registration and afterwards we will send you an email with detailed information about how to proceed.

    International Foundation Program Scholarship 2019/2020

    International Foundation Program scholarships 2019/2020

    Carlos III International School promotes two scholarship for International Foundation Program students  with an good academic performance, who may be in difficult financial situations or in special circumstances that could compromise their access to university studies.

    Amount

    Two scholarships of 6.100 euros each shall be allocated. This amount shall be used to cover part of the tuition fees.

    General requirements

    • Not be resident in Spain.

    Academic requirements

    • Have completed high school studies
    • Have been officially accepted in the International Foundation Program
    • Hold a good GAP in high school

    Financial requirements

    • Do not exceed anual incomes state in the article 2.3 of the call for candidature.

    Acceptance in Bachelor's Degree studies

    Requirements

    International Foundation Program students will have the possibility to be accepted in a Bachelor Degree studies after completing the program by fulfilling the following requirements (except Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, UC3M Open BA and UC3M Open BS and Dual Degrees):

    1. Students with Non European Union high school Diploma:  Hold the recognition of the high school studies (in Spanish: Homologación) by the Spanish Ministry of Education or the copy of the application . More information about the recognition of studies in the Spanish Ministry of Education.

    Students with European Union high school Diploma: Instead of recognition of studies, submit the credential for university studies in Spain, given by UNED (in spanish, "credencial") through its service UNED assis. More information about UNED assis.

    2. Hold a B2 level proficiency in English or Spanish deppending on the Bachelor Degree chosen.

    3. Pass at least 42 credits (ECTS) of the International Foundation Program.

    Selection Criterias

    A commission appointed by the President of the University will evaluate the students applications. Applications will be assessed taking into consideration the following aspects:

    1. GPA obtained during the International Foundation Program (will be taken into account 48 ECTS)

    2. GPA obtained in 2 basic Foundation courses for the Bachelor's Degree chosen:

    • For Engineering: Foundations of Algebra, Foundations of Physics, Foundations of Calculus, Foundations of Chemistry, Foundations of Programming.
    • For Economics, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Statistics and Business, International Studies and Management and Technology: Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Statistics, Foundations of Economics, Foundations of Business Administration.
    • For Political Science, Law, Employment and Labour Relations, Sociology, Management of Information and Digital Contents, History and Politics and Tourism: Foundationsof Law, Foundations of Politics, Foundations of Sociology, Foundations of Philosophy, History of Spain, Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Statistics, Foundations of Economics.
    • For Film, TV and Media Studies, Journalism, Humanities and Cultural Studies: History of Spain, Communication, Comunicación, Foundations of Philosophy, Foundations of Mathematics, Foundations of Economics.
    • 3. Pass all the credits of the program and pass the Bachelor's Degree courses will be an asset.

    Documents to submit:

    • Recognition of the high school studies (in Spanish: Homologación) by the Spanish Ministry of Education or the credential for university studies in Spain, given by UNED. If you don't hold this document, you will have the possibility to submit it later.
