Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is ranked 281 in the new QS World University Ranking, which consolidates it as one of the top 300 universities out of the 980 institutions classified in this edition, with more than 4,000 universities throughout the world assessed.

UC3M holds practically the same position as in the last edition, where it was ranked 280.  Since 2015, UC3M has risen 74 spots.  By indicators, it stands out for its employer reputation, where it is ranked 149 worldwide, representing an increase of 29 places over last year.  Likewise, it has gone up in academic reputation, rising from 292 to 279 worldwide.

UC3M is ranked seventh among Spanish universities.  The top six spots correspond to Universidad de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Navarra, and Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña.

In the Spanish university system, UC3M holds first place in faculty/student ratio, and position 177 worldwide.  “A high number of faculty members per student is an indirect indicator of intuition commitment to high quality teaching,” the QS World University Rankings report explains.  Furthermore, UC3M holds second place in Spain in faculty internationalization, which is “an approximate measure of how attractive a university is for faculty,” according to the ranking.

Developed for the first time in 2004 by the British consultancy, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), this ranking is based on six indicators and analyzes university performance in four areas:  research, teaching, employability and internationalization.
