This is the second edition of these annual awards, which the Social Council bestows to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of University bachelor degree students and to foster the creation of companies. The economic endowment is allocated to financing entrepreneurial activities or professional training related to the projects.

These prizes are awarded to TFG (end-of-degree course) projects that have previously obtained the TFG-EMPRENDE certificate, with which UC3M recognizes innovative projects in the sphere of entrepreneurial culture and in the adoption or development of new technologies. The Entrepreneurs Club of the UC3M Social Council participated in selecting the winners.

The two winning projects

Jorge Trincado Castán is studying a Dual Bachelor in Computer Science and Business Administration at UC3M.  His “Automated system for swimming pool maintenance” is a business proposal that consists of developing a device that automates analysis and maintenance of water and water treatment systems in private or community swimming pools. The equipment has an Internet connection, which permits automated performance such as the sending of data, notices or alarms to the user. In addition, it facilitates smart functions like selecting hours for water filtering based on electrical costs, automatic purchasing of products for the water based on stock, or operation of the pool cover by wind detection. The equipment, which improves ease of installation and use relative to systems currently on the market, reduces costs by approximately two-thirds.

Celia García-Rubio Márquez is pursuing a degree in Business Administration at UC3M. Her project, “LoveApp: A Game for Two”, is a business proposal that consists of a mobile application based on techniques of gamification for couples who seek to stimulate their relationships. Its potential market is the so-called millennial generation (individuals aged 18 to 35) who own smartphones. The LoveApp follows a “freemium” model which allows users to enjoy the experience and engage with the application, which can be made available in several languages.
