    The Master of Telematics Engineering offers advanced education about the last technological advances in Internet and on the Web. This includes topics such as network protocol architectures and communication services, the design and development of telematics applications, ubiquitous computing, mobile communications, network and application security, efficiency and scalability aspects in networks and applications, broadband networks, social network analysis, or intelligent data analysis using data generated by platforms, networks and services.

    The education offered can be applied in different contexts, such as operators of communication networks, local area networks, ehealth, elearning, ecommerce, electronic administration of the automation of processes for companies.

    The Master program offers advance knowledge on the last technologies and the state of the art of Telematics Engineering. The knowledge provided in the Master's program makes it ideal for different high demanded jobs such as developer of telematics applications, network and communications manager, data analyst, digital security expert or mobile application developer.

    As this is an official recognized master, it qualifies to be admitted to official doctoral programs, such as the Doctoral Program in Telematics Engineering.

    Requirements

    The Master program is offered to students having a degree (or equivalent) that provides a strong background in telematics applications and networks, fundamentals of calculus, statistic and programming.

    The program is addressed to students with degrees in Telematic, Telecommunication or Computer Science. Also, students with degrees in related Engineering studies, physics or mathematics are welcome.

    Because of our International nature, courses are taken in English, so correct written and spoken English is demanded.

     

    Admission criteria

    Admission will be decided by the Master Academic Committee.If it is considered necessary, the applicant can be called for a personal interview. Candidate selection will be done on the basis of the following criteria:

    • Previous academic background of the applicant
    • Academic official records
    • Curriculum vitae
    • A brief statement of purpose. Motivation letter is important in establishing your research agenda.
    • Compromise of dedication to the program.

    Language requirements

    You can check the language requirements of generic language required to study a master at UC3M, depending on is in Spanish, English or bilingual.

    Foreign students

    Once admitted to the Master, foreign students with university degree issued by a higher education institution belonging to an educational system outside the EEES, must present, for enrollment, the diploma attesting equivalent training that allows access to postgraduate studies, legalized by diplomatic procedures, or “The Hague Convention Apostille”. More information about Legalization of Documents.

    If needed, documents must be accompanied by an official sworn translation into Spanish.

      The Master schedules compulsory subjects from 16:05 on, and rotates the elective subjects from year to year, so that part-time students from the industry can successfully follow the Master Program.

      Additional information

      • You can register on the Master’s degree program when you have finished the application admission process and you have received your acceptance.
      • When performing the enrollment you can choose between Full-time enrollment or Part-time enrollment.
      • The email address which the University provides to the student upon enrollment will be used principally for communications with said student. For this reason, it is essential that it be actualized and periodically consulted.
      • Failure to make payment shall result in non-admission or termination of enrollment according to that established by the University. In case of annulment of registration because of failure to make payment, Universities can demand payment for previous enrollment in earlier academic years as a previous condition for enrollment.
        Universities shall not issue a diploma or certificate when a student has payments of any kind pending.

      The Academic Committee of the Master complies with the SGIC of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and it is responsible for the quality analysis of the program, it contributes with proposals to improve the program and produces the “Memoria Académica de Titulación”.

      Graduate Profile and Competences

      System of complaints and / or suggestions

      Claims, complaints and suggestions received and channeled through the Academic Committee of Quality, so that it is directly informed of all matters related to the quality of qualifications. The seat of that committee are reviewed and processed in accordance with established work schedules and noting in the reports of these committees.

      Furthermore, claims, complaints and suggestions can be made outside the scope of the degree by presenting on paper, through the Registry, and also through the electronic mailboxes (OPINA System) found on the website of the degrees. All questions received, transfer is given to units or services concerned in order to reverse this information to improve the quality offered by the University.

      Also through the University Ombudsman that ensures the protection of the rights, freedoms and interests of all members of the university community, against any violation of the current legislation by the services and bodies of the University.

      ☛ The application process for academic year 2017/2018 is now open

       

      The UC3M offers you the possibility of jointly studying the Master in Telecommunications Engineering, along with the Master in Telematics Engineering. The former allows you to acquire the training to practice as a Telecommunications Engineer. This study option means you will obtain a high level of specialization and research training that will put you in prime position regarding employment and / or access to Ph.D. studies.

      Admission and enrollment in the Double Master, allow for the exemption of validated ECTS, according to the curriculum plan (see Program). Completing the credits from both curricula along with getting 30 ECTS recognized will allow you to obtain two officially recognized Master in a little more than a year and a half.

       

      VERSIONS

      Two versions of the Master in Telecommunications Engineering are offered: a bilingual version taught on the Madrid-Puerta de Toledo Campus and a Spanish version taught on the Leganés Campus.

      Students may select whichever one of the two versions they wish to follow during the admissions process. This choice only affects the first course.

      The Master in Telematics Engineering is taught in English in Leganés Campus.

      Master in Telecommunications Engineering

      The Master in Telecommunications Engineering is a professional Master to replace the Telecommunications Engineering undergraduate degree and enables you to practice as a Telecommunications Engineer, under the provisions of Order CIN / 355/2009 of 9th February.

      The Spanish Association of Engineers requires professionals, from companies in the telecommunications field (major manufacturers of telecommunications equipment or telephone service providers) and from other companies, institutions or organizations that need qualified personnel to design and maintain their own telecommunications systems.

      The overall aim of the Master in Telecommunications Engineering is to train professionals who are competent to practice as Telecommunications Engineers. The Master is geared towards advanced training and enhancing employability

      Master in Telematics Engineering

      The Master in Telematics Engineering offers advanced training, which includes the theoretical and practical basis of applications, networks and communication services, protocol architectures, multimedia management, broadband networks, mobile communications, ubiquitous computing, internet technologies, etc.

      It also provides the student with knowledge about the state-of- the-art technologies, which will be developed in the near future.

      This program offers specific lectures dedicated to learning research methods, which allow access to Ph.D. studies.

      Seminars offered in the program are selected based on the relevance to the research topic and its area of interest. We host well-recognized academic staff with extensive experience.

    • PROGRAM

      The Double Master's Degree Curriculum is structured around two academic years in which you will take 78 ECTS from the Master's Degree in Telecommunications

      Engineering and 42 ECTS from the Master's Degree in Telematics Engineering. The Double Master's Degree Curriculum is structured around two academic years in which you will take 78 ECTS from the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering and 42 ECTS from the Master's Degree in Telematics Engineering.

      The 120 total credits from the dual curriculum is broken down as follows:

      • In the first year, students take subjects for the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering (30 ECTS in each semester). Each semester you will take five core subjects of 6 ECTS each.
      • During the second year of teaching, you will take specialty subjects in Telematics Engineering, 1 final Telecommunications Engineering subject, and 2 Master's Theses.

      You will have 30 validated ECTS credits, and on completion you receive two Official Master's Degree qualifications.

      Choose 18 ECTS of the Master's Degree in Telematics Engineering.

      Entry Requirements

      The following candidates may be admitted to the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid:

      • Graduates with Bachelor's Degrees in: Engineering, Telecommunications Technology, Audiovisual Systems Engineering, Communications Engineering and Telematics Engineering.
      • Three-year courses (Ingenieros Técnicos): Telecommunications engineering graduates with any specialism.
      • Four-year or five-year (depending if taken before or after the changes implemented by the Bologna Process) undergraduate degree courses: Telecommunications Engineering graduates
      • Students holding any Bachelor's Degree, despite the fact there may be outstanding previous subjects deemed necessary.

       

      Admission criteria:

      Student selection will be based on the applicant's CV. Specifically we will consider:

      • The applicant's academic record.
      • The applicant's professional experience in the Telecommunications Engineering field.
      • Any letters of support and academic or professional references vouching for the applicant's admission to the Master.
      • Certificates as evidence of English language ability. (It is compulsory to provide this information)

      In the event that the course is oversubscribed due to high demand, personal interviews with candidates may be conducted.

      Enrollment

      Enrollment in the Master's Degree will occur when the application stage has been passed and after completion of the admission process

      Enrollment completely registers the student in the Master's Degree.

      A minimum enrollment of 25 students will have to be reached for each elective subject to be taught.
