    The main objective of the International Foundation Program (IFP) is to provide international students with the necessary preparation to undertake a degree at the University Carlos III of Madrid. You will acquire an adequate basis of both Spanish language and culture, as well as specific knowledge of the studies you will carry out in the future. The Program comprises 48 ECTS (European Transfer Credit System) and is divided into two knowledge areas: Social Sciences and Humanities/Engineering.

     

    Why study an International Foundation Program?

    • A full year of university studies that will allow you to adapt to the Spanish university system.
    • It will prepare you to study a Degree in any worldwide university while learning Spanish.
    • It will help you define your interests.
    • If you hold a Non-European high school Diploma, you will obtain expedited admission to a Degree Program upon successful completion of 36 credits of the International Foundation Program.
    • If you hold a Spanish or EU high school Diploma, you will get better prepared to take the national entrance exam (Selectividad).
    • Once admitted to a degree program, you will be able to receive at least 12 credits.
    • No standardized tests required for admission.
    • The International Foundation Program has a one-year duration and is divided in two quarters.


    Personal advisor

    You will have a personal advisor who will help you choose the subjects and modules that meet your needs. You will receive this help throughout the whole course and the advisor will help you adapt to our university system and make the most of your program.  

    As an IFP student, you will study and live with undergraduates and you will be part of our student community. You will benefit from all our cultural, sports, social and volunteering activities.

    • European or non European high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Transcript of records.
    • B1 or intermediate level in English or Spanish certificate.
    • Passport.

      APPLICATION PERIOD: from July 10th until July 18th

      TUITION FEES: €6.500

       

      Means of payment

      Payment in a single instalment:

      • Cash
      • Direct debit (Spanish account)
      • Credit Card

      Payment in several instalments:

      • Bank debit order to a Spanish account. If the applicant does not own a Spanish account on the moment of the application, payment shall be made as soon as the account is created.
         

      Period 1: 1st of August

      Period 4: 1st of March

    • Social Sciences and Humanities

      The IFP has 48 credits divided in two terms. Each term you will choose 24 credits distributed in the following way:

      • 12 credits in Foundation courses
      • 6 credits in Spanish or English language course.
      • 6 credits in first year courses of Social Sciences, Law and Humanities Bachelor's Degree. You can see the offer in the following link.

      Select 12 credits among the Foundation modules and a language course per term.

      • Activate your university email account. The University provides you an email account and a student ID. It is important  to activate your account with the instructions below to access to the registration form.
      • Select the modules and the mean of payment: Type your student ID (e.g 100123456) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account.

       

      2. Selection of the Degree modules for the first term. 4th of September

      Select 6 credits among first year Degree modules.

      • Access to the registration. Type your user number (e.g.100123456) and the password that you chose for your e-mail account. After log in, you must select "gestión de prematrícula".

       

       

      How to activate your student email account?

      1. Obtain your student ID (for example 100123456) and your 4 digits password: Type your passport or ID and the date of birth.

      3. Fill out the form.

      4. Choose a personal password. Make sure to remember this password, as you will need it to access your e-mail account, for the registration, for the students intranet and for other services such as the library.

            ​How to log into UC3M email

      The email account is associated with Gmail. Go to mail.google.com and:

      1. Type your full email address which is your student ID following by @alumnos.uc3m.es (eg. 100123456@alumnos.uc3m.es)

      2. Type the chosen password.

  • Scholarships

    International Foundation Program Scholarship

    Carlos III International School promotes two scholarship for International Foundation Program students  with an good academic performance, who may be in difficult financial situations or in special circumstances that could compromise their access to university studies.

    Amount

    Two scholarships of 6.200 euros each shall be allocated:

    • 5.200 euros to cover part of the tuition fee.
    • 1.000 euros to cover travel expenses.

    General requirements

    • Not be resident in Spain.

    Academic requirements

    • Have been officially accepted in the International Foundation Program.
    • Hold a good GAP in high school studies.

    Financial requirements

    • Do not excedes anual incomes state in the article 2.3 of the call for candidature.
