Research at Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) has always been one of the basic pillars of the University's activities, both to improve teaching and to generate new knowledge and new lines of research. With this focus, the Knowledge Transfer Office (OTRI) was created as a "Centralised technical-administrative service, without a distinct character from that of the University, to manage research acticity and administer the funds generated by the University, in executing the policy on the subject defined by the competent government bodies", as stated in the UC3M statutes.
As a part of the OTRI, the mission of the Research Service (SI) at UC3M is to support researches in the launching, management, carrying out and justificaction of their research. In line with this focus, it provides support to the research units (groups, institutes, chairs and laboratories) and manages the University's Research Programme. It also carries out tasks related to perspective, evaluation and accreditation, as well as those of dissemination of calls for research projects and guidance in negotiating research contracts.
