The aim of the first UC3M Summer School in Economics (SSECO) 2008, organized by the Instituto de Economía de la Universidad Carlos III, is to permit top-flight last-year undergraduate and graduate students, as well as policy makers with a graduate degree background the opportunity to gain state-of-the-art insights on what we know about several relevant topics both in the Spanish and world economies. In courses of 4 days (4 sessions of 2h. each), participants will study the challenges of migration, financial markets econometrics, industrial organization, new economic geography and family-aid oriented policies.
The crash-courses combine a thorough theoretical and methodical underpinning with a clear policy orientation on “how to put theory into practice”. Students are expected to participate actively in lively debates in a friendly and open atmosphere on the topics discussed during the lessons.
