(2004-2008)
The main objective of the project was the design and fabrication of a monolithic source of ultrafast, high repetition rate, optical pulses suitable for the next generation communication systems, compatible with both optical time division multiplexing(OTDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM).
In addition, adaptive monolothic pulse shaping elements were developed to be integrated with the source and/or the receiver to ensure high quality pulse generation, and overcome crosstalk and allow thresholding at the receiver.
