MITEPHO

Microwave and Terahertz Photonics: technics and integration for generation and applications.

Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). Marie Curie Actions. Initial Training Networks (ITN)

UC3M's Role: Coordinator Partner

Total Partners: 12

(2009-2013)

Mitepho is an Initial Training Network (ITN) that seeks to train researchers in the pursue to develop photonic sources for CW signal generation from Microwave (μW) to Terahertz (THz) frequencies. This topic is in line with the research priority “THz sensors and sources” highlighted by the European Technology Platform Photonics21, founded by the European Commission. The main objective of the network is to establish a crossroad among the different technical domains that overlap on this topic, gathering experts in the domains of photonic sources and detectors from physics and engineering backgrounds.

MONOPLA

Monolithic short optical pulse laser sources for ultrahigh speed communications

Fifth Framework Programme (FP6)

UC3M's Role: Coordinator Partner

Total Partners: 5

(2004-2008)

The main objective of the project was the design and fabrication of a monolithic source of ultrafast, high repetition rate, optical pulses suitable for the next generation communication systems, compatible with both optical time division multiplexing(OTDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM).
In addition, adaptive monolothic pulse shaping elements were developed to be integrated with the source and/or the receiver to ensure high quality pulse generation, and overcome crosstalk and allow thresholding at the receiver.

ePIXnet

European Network of Excellence on Photonic Integrated Components and Circuits

Sixth Framework Programme.

UC3M's Role: Partner
