The Research Group in Economics of Technical Change of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is formed by experts in economics whose research activity covers topics like: innovation (product innovation, process innovation), research and development (R&D), patents, property rights, technical effiecincy, total factor productivity, reserarch policy evaluation and firm performance. The members of the group have published their work in scientific international journals in economics. The group's members teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Research Policy and Econometrics of Panel Data. It is now widely recognized in the economic literature that Research and Development Innovations are a major driver of economic growth. An economy's ability to exploit novel technologies and to adapt to a rapidly changing technological environment is seen as essential to its prospects for improving standards of living, prosperity and fast per capita income convergence.
