Curriculum

María Montes is an Associate Professor at the Department of Business Administration of Universidad Carlos III. She obtained her PhD degree in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III, where she also studied her bachelor degree. During her PhD she was visiting scholar at UCLA Anderson School of Management at University of California, Los Angeles (USA) in 2001 and 2002.

She worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at University of California at Santa Barbara (USA) from 2004 to 2005 and at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (USA) in 2003. More recently, she worked as a visiting professor at the Department of Economics and Business of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2005-2006), where she taught Operations Management and Commercial Distribution.

Her research interests cover (1) Total Quality Management and ISO 9000, (2) Environmental Management and (3) Supply Chain Management. She has published in leading journals, such as the Management Science and Strategic Management Journal, and in edited book chapters.

María teaches Operations Management and Logistics to undergraduate students in Business Administration and in different masters of Universidad Carlos III.  

She collaborates actively with Centro Español de Logistica (CEL), a non-profit organization, in Logistics training courses and firm’s projects.
