Curriculum:
Jordi Surroca is an Associate Professor of Management at the Department of Business Administration at Carlos III University. He holds a Ph. D. in Business Administration and a Licentiate degree in economics from Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). He teaches introduction to business economics, management methods and economics of organizations to undergrads, and management and organization and corporate governance to master students.
Jordi's areas of interest include corporate political strategies, stakeholder management, corporate governance, and firm performance, the theory of the firm and comparative institutional analysis. Recent papers deal with the governance mechanisms and efficiency of the Spanish Savings Banks and the Mondragon Cooperatives. He has done empirical research in the fields of efficiency and productivity analysis, managerial economics, and mainly applied it in the analysis of the Spanish Savings banks, commercial banks, privatized firms and Spanish hospitals. An example of his empirical research can be found in journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, among others. He has also published in Spanish journals, on the economic consequences of the ownership of enterprises.
