Curriculum

Jaime Ortega is an Associate Professor of Management and a Research Associate of the Center for Corporate Performance (Aarhus, Denmark). He holds a Ph. D. degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Licenciate degree in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He currently teaches an undergraduate course in Business Economics, as well as two graduate courses: an Economics for Business MBA course and a Personnel Economics PhD course. He has been the Director of the graduate program in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods and is currently the Assistant Director of the MBA program.

As far as research is concerned, he is interested in personnel economics and the economics of organizations. His articles, both theoretical and empirical, examine the role of implicit incentives in organizations and the use of new work practices such as job rotation and employee direct participation in decision making. His research is also concerned with the state and the determinants of working conditions in Europe. He has published in Management Science, The Accounting Review, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, and Industrial Relations.
