Her research interests include the development of innovation capacities and competencies in organizations, technology transfer models, adoption and impact of organizational innovations, and Internet business models. In particular, her most recent papers analyze: (1) technology transfer strategies between companies when products are heterogeneous or, alternatively, homogeneous; (2) factors that explain competitive advantage in research and scientific production among public research centers subject to the same institutional pressures; and (3) the evolution of optimal Internet business strategies.
Clara Eugenia has published her research in national and international journals such as the California Management Review, Scientometrics, Journal of High Technology Management Research, and Research Evaluation, among others.
In addition to her teaching and research, Clara Eugenia has been active in other academic and professional fields. Since 2003 she is a member of the European Commission’s External Advisory Committee for the development of the European Research Space. She has been the Deputy Dean in charge of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2001-04); Coordinator of the National Evaluation Agency’s technology transfer area (2002-04); Director of the Master’s Program in Science and Technology Analysis and Management at Carlos III (1998-2001); Coordinator of the Science and Technology field in the Master’s Program in Industrial Economics at Carlos III (2002-04); and Spanish representative at the OECD for various projects related to the national innovation system. Since 1997 she cooperates on a regular basis with the European Commission as referee for European research projects, Marie Curie actions and the promotion of science and research in the EU. Clara Eugenia García is also a member of the EU’s Expert Advisory Committee for science policy and human capital, and has served as a referee for some of the most prestigious academic journals in her area.
