International Congress: "The Rotterdam rules"

Introduction

On December of 2008 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the text of the new Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea. The main aspiration of the already known as the Rotterdam Rules is to discipline the international “door-to-door” and maritime transportation of goods.

Their contents, in addition to contracts of carriage, aim to improve some aspects of other contracts usually involved in cross-border operations for the exchange of goods. The Congress is targeted at contributing to the necessary spread, explanation and analysis of the provisions of the Rotterdam Rules. With that purpose, highly qualified professionals from the maritime and transport sector, many of which have been directly involved in the negotiation and drafting of the Convention, will gather in Madrid and take part in the event.

Note: Conferences and interventions will take place in Spanish, English or French. An interpretation service will be available on request during the Congress.
